Common questions
I don't see a Dock icon. Where is the app?
News Bar is menu-bar-only by design. After you launch it, look for a small newspaper icon in the top-right of your screen, near the wifi and battery indicators. Click it to open the news panel.
How do I disable Launch at Login?
Click the menu-bar icon to open the panel, then click the ⋯ button in the header and toggle Launch at Loginoff. You can also disable it in System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions.
Stories aren't loading. What now?
First, check your internet connection — the app needs HTTPS access to fetch news. If your connection works elsewhere but News Bar shows an error, click the refresh button (the circular arrow in the panel header). If the issue persists, write to us at hashir@geobrowser.io.
Where do the stories come from?
Every story comes from the public Geo knowledge graph, which captures news events as structured entities with linked sources, extracted claims, and multiple perspectives. Click any story to read more about it in your browser.
Can I add custom topics or sources?
Not in the current version. News Bar shows the same five categories the Geo knowledge graph organizes around: Latest, AI, Crypto, Health, and World Affairs. If you'd like to see more categories, send an email — it's on the roadmap.
Reporting bugs
When emailing about a bug, including the following helps a lot:
- macOS version (Apple menu → About This Mac)
- News Bar version (in the App Store, or About panel)
- What you were doing when the issue occurred
- A screenshot if the issue is visual
